Take advantage of all the fun activities NC State has to offer! There are many opportunities to meet other students, attend sporting events, and explore Raleigh.

Wellness and Recreation

Remember to stay healthy while you are here in the United States! Each student can access Carmichael Gymnasium, the Carmichael Recreation Center, Aquatic Center, Outdoor Courts, and Outdoor Fields using their student ID card. The gym has exercise machines, weights, a pool, an indoor track and many courts where you can play different sports. They even have a rock climbing wall and table tennis rooms!

Cultural Exchange Network (CENet)

The Cultural Exchange Network is a student organization that fosters global learning and international friendships through social, academic, and service activities. CENet sponsors at least 30 events each semester that members can participate in for little to no cost.

Explore with the IEP

The IEP assists students with finding events on-campus and in the Raleigh area where they can engage with American students and community members and have fun! As a part of the Conversation and Presentation Skills class, students attend events, complete interviews with IEP student workers, and give a class presentation about their experiences.

End of Semester Party

At the end of every term, the Intensive English Program hosts a party for students, staff, faculty, as well as for employees from other departments that support the IEP. It is a celebration of everyone’s accomplishments and is a time to relax, share memories, and enjoy each other’s company. It always includes food, awards, gifts, and lots of fun!

The Arts

If you enjoy the arts, there are many events you can attend including theatre, dance, and musical performances. Tickets for these events are only $5 with your student ID card. If you prefer to make your own art, the NC State Craft Center offers workshops and classes throughout the year.

Student Clubs and Organizations

At NC State there is a club for almost every interest or hobby. There are several animal-related clubs, a robotics club, anime club, and even a sailing club! There are also many international student associations, where you can meet other students from your country studying at NC State.

English Conversation Club is a fun place to practice your English with American students and teachers. It is a great place to learn idioms and slang that you may not learn in class.

Breaking Bread gives international students the chance to have a meal with an American family at their home. This is a fun way to meet Americans and learn more about the United States!

Talley Student Union

The Talley Student Union is a great place to socialize with friends, have a bite to eat, and buy books and NC State clothing in the bookstore. It is also the location of many clubs and organizations on campus.

Intramural Sports

If you enjoy playing sports, there are many intramural teams you can be a part of. Intramural sports are recreational sports teams where students play against other teams. Students involved in intramural events are there to have fun, and it can be a great way to meet new friends. You do not have to be skilled in a sport to join. You can even organize your own group of friends and make a new team.

Wellness and Recreation offers intramural sports like soccer, tennis, flag football, volleyball, basketball, ultimate frisbee, and kickball.
